Zero people have died from marijuana….but millions have died from alcohol and tobacco. Meanwhile, the availability of medical marijuana has actually led to decreases in opioid abuse and overdose, as well as helped offer those suffering from serious chronic pain and illness their quality of life back so that they can function and be productive (like myself). As someone who grew up in a family with addictions to hard drugs (including alcohol) and have watched them die from it, and who has been studying the war on drugs and the health applications of different substances (including marijuana), this slapdash comment relies on zero data or understanding of these drugs or how addiction works. Conflating all drugs together as bad or unhealthy, and ignoring the nuances of those that have medical uses and applications is what is“harmful.”
